They get some modelling clay and make a ball in their hands. They put the ball onto an appropriate surface and roll it out flat with a rolling pin. It needs to be about 1 cm thick.
Then they draw a picture with an old ballpoint pen or clay tool. They need to press hard into the clay. When finished their design, they add a border with a fancy pattern around it and carefully take off the excess clay around the border.
We leave the tiles to dry.
2nd session: Printing with clay. To create individual prints.
They carefully brush on a thin layer of paint. Once it's covered, take a piece of paper and place it on top. Run the hand firmly over the paper. Take back the paper to reveal the print underneath.
If you want to repeat or print in a different colour, clean gently the excess of painting with a kitchen roll paper and start again.
They can make monochrome and multi-coloured print.
